What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

New Friends in Jaco Travel to Costa Rica and experience the highs and lows of this country and its people: Lush rainforests and poverty, magnificent mountains and single parent homes, volcanoes and refugees.

Even though this wonderful country is well known by its natural wealth, there are communities filled with poverty, drugs, and prostitution.

Nicaraguans that have moved to Costa Rica for a better life are looked down upon by nationals. Many are in Costa Rica illegally, so they don’t get proper medical care for fear of being sent back to Nicaragua. Most end up in the barrios, such as “Los Cuadros” or “Purral”, trapped in utter poverty.

In San Jose, BWO will partner with Light Force International. "LFI" is an organization who's goal is to ensure that individuals are not sexually exploited in Costa Rica. LFI works to support, empower and advocate for children and youth at risk, as well as provide protection and resources to victims and survivors. You will have the opportunity to serve in Christ-centered prevention programs, in places like orphanages, barrios, foster homes and schools to intervene and prevent the trafficking of children and youth in Costa Rica.

On the last part of our trip, we will shift our focus to the Indigenous tribes of Bribri people. These beautiful people live and farm in the Talamanca mountain region and Caribbean coastal areas. Here we will reach out through medical & optical clinics, children’s ministry and of course sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Join us in loving people past your limits!

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

BWO's goal is not only to share Jesus with people, but also to help them form relationships by getting connected in their community through the local church. By partnering with in-country missionaries and local churches, people can form relationships with other believers in their area and continue to grow and deepen their walk with Christ all year round.
