DiveInto France flyer.JPG

All participants will spend time in Mulhouse and Paris, and will have a choice between going to either Lisieux or Bayonne & pilgrim walking in Spain.

In Mulhouse: The first three days will be experiential orientation to French culture, language and the spiritual state of France. Learn and practice some useful methods for engaging in spiritual conversations with people from various backgrounds, and the basics of how to witness (to Muslims and other). Run a half day of prayer for France. You will also be doing practical help in maintenance and the kitchen.

Student work: Prepare and run English events for international students, mainly from a North African background. Make new friends and witness to them on a personal level. Get further insight into different types of migrant ministries next door to Mulhouse in Germany and Switzerland.

Paris: sight-seeing, not only some iconic tourist places, but also guided visits by local missionaries to see ministry among the Soninké migrants, and Jewish peoples of France. Learn about using media to remotely reach for the gospel different peoples in North Africa.

In Lisieux (Normandy): Join in outreach through a café ministry with its youth football and creative clubs in a socially deprived area. Help out practically and share your stories in a network of small churches. Prayer walking while learning about Lisieux and its importance as the second most visited catholic pilgrim site in France. A chance to visit some local beauty spots and the WW2 landing beaches.

Bayonne & walking the Camino: Visit a local French church, and walk some of the Camino in Spain, sharing life and faith with fellow pilgrims of many nationalities in creative ways. A good level of fitness is required, walk approx. 25 km/day, and be prepared for very basic living conditions.

On-field Debrief: At the end of the DIVE there will be a chance to share personal testimonies in local Mulhouse churches, and share your DIVE experiences and testimonies. Help will be given to prepare for this and to prepare media for sharing back home. You will also have a social outing (hike in mountains, or other weather depending) with university students from the English club.

Participants will participate in a pre-field orientation in Philadelphia PA at the WEC USA headquarters campus. There will also be online team building sessions to get to know your team members from all over the world. There will be an on-field orientation, rest, debrief and tourism days as well. After the trip, you will return to Philadelphia for a 3 day debriefing before returning home. There are only 8 short-term worker places available on this team. Application deadline April 21, 2024
