What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Betel’s mission is to bring long-term freedom and restoration to lives broken by drug and alcohol abuse. We accomplish this by building values, skills and character through living, working and worshipping together in a caring Christian community. Our centres for men and women are free-of-charge, operate no waiting lists, and are run by people that have experienced freedom from addiction themselves. Our end goal is to help people not only escape addiction, but become productive, trustworthy men and women of character when they leave our community.
The Betel Internship Programme gives interns the opportunity to live, work and worship alongside our Betel residents who are in various stages of recovery from addiction. The recommended serving time is at least 3 months, but there is flexibility based on availability and interest. Opportunities are available in Betel UK as well as through Betel International for those wishing to serve in another country.
In the UK, we generally start our internship classes in February, June and September. It gives interns the opportunity to get to know each other in orientation, but we are flexible if someone is not able to start in those months. There are three tracks available.
- The Infinite Arts Internship at Betel UK in Birmingham is for those with a performance background. Those accepted into this internship will live alongside Betel's residents, but will work on an original Infinite Arts production to be performed in public at the end of the internship. Those interested in staying on to continue in Betel's internship programme can apply to both at the same time. To be considered for the Infinite Arts performance internship, please send an email to [email protected]. Dates for the upcoming internship with Infinite Arts are 15-27 June 2024.
- An internship or gap year with Betel will provide practical hands-on training for a future in missions or social work through living, working and worshipping in a Christian community among those whose lives are being restored from addiction.
