The Global Church is inviting you to participate in what God is doing in West Pokot, Kenya. Our Partner in Monterrey is Jitokeze Wafrika, a Kenya-led ministry focusing on safety, education and job training for girls rescued from abusive situations with their families or forced marriages. The school in Kapenguria provides housing, food, education and training for the girls to prepare them for life after their abuse. The ministry also does community development projects in the West Pokot region of Kenya and has numerous self-help groups set up in villages where community members learn skills to increase financial stability.

Trips are Mutually Designed with local partners utilizing your skills for ministry, learning from the Global Church, and building relationships with believers in the region.  Any age group is invited, any time of year, for any length of time. Trips are led, staffed and implemented by Kenyan Nationals.

Kapenguria is a town of 45,000 located in the western Kenyan district of West Pokot. Flights from Nairobi to Kitale or Eldoret are the closest points. 

Various ministries are available for your team:

– Agriculture

– Small Business workshops/Microloan workshops

– Community Development

– Education

– Tailoring/Sewing/Fashion design

– Counseling/Pastoral Care

Besides these options, there are more. The goal would be to find out the skills and interests of your team and match them with the ongoing ministries of church partners in the area.

Trips are Mutually Designed with local partners utilizing your skills for ministry, learning from the Global Church, and building relationships with believers in the region.  Any age group is invited, any time of year, for any length of time.

All trips are led, staffed and implemented by Kenyan Nationals. Merge is an organization directed by a leadership team made up of non-American Global Church leaders from around the world. Once your team sends in a deposit, a Merge Coach will contact your team leaders and work with your team, and the local church leaders, to develop an itinerary, ministry focus, and develop learning activities for your team. Local Kenyan nationals will be hired as interpreters, guides, ministry coaches, cooks, and construction supervisors (if needed). 

Housing – Housing with families is the primary option, although sometimes a local home is available just for the team.

Food – Usually teams are fed two-American/Canadian-style uncooked meals each day, and one cooked Kenyan meal made by local cooks, although more Kenyan meals are possible. Purified water is also supplied for teams. 

Flights – teams would fly first to Nairobi and then either fly to Eldoret or Kitale. An overland route is also available of about nine hours.

Ground Transportation – Merge will hire local bus companies to drive your team around West Pokot.

Learning – Learning activites with local church leaders and Merge staff will be designed into the itinerary.

Cultural Activities – Kenya has famous safari options, such as Maasai Mara and Nairobi National Park. There are other National Parks with wildlife as well. Hiking Mt. Kenya. Giraffe and Elephant rescue centers in Nairobi. Museums in Nairobi and Kapenguria.
