Youth or Adult Group Mission Trip - 1 Week - Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Considered one of the top ten family-friendly beaches in the world, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina hosts more than two million tourists a year. The island features 12 miles of beachfront on the Atlantic Ocean. This sleepy, yet warm and welcoming beach town is known for their self-described, Lowcountry way of life. Though much lower than the rest of the state, Hilton Head still has a poverty rate of 10 percent. Will you come, join the community, and share the love of Jesus with this incredible island?

What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

Hilton Head3.jpeg

Considered one of the top ten family-friendly beaches in the world, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina hosts more than two million tourists a year. The island features 12 miles of beachfront on the Atlantic Ocean.

This island is a beautiful place, rich with history. But beyond the fairways and tennis courts of Hilton Head Island, poverty paralyzes many of the locals. The island's poorest residents, who most often are elderly, need help cleaning up their homes. You can impact many different demographics in Hilton Head with the love of Jesus.

Ministry

Your team will have the opportunity to partner with Providence Presbyterian Church and Bloom Senior Living Center.

  • Nursing Home Visits: There is a fairly large elderly community in Hilton Head, and spending time in nursing homes is one of our favorite ministries. The elderly residents in nursing homes can often feel lonely. You will have one-on-one time with the residents, listening to their stories and encouraging them in their daily lives.

  • Service Projects: There is the possibility for participants to help at one of the local non-profits with various service/construction projects. It will range from painting, sweeping, and raking yards to patching holes in a roof, doing repairs and installations.

  • Beach Ministry: Because of the location, there are opportunities for ministry on the beach and reaching out to the locals and visitors. By handing out water bottles and inviting others to play a game of beach volleyball or soccer, you will have a chance to connect kids, teens, and adults.

Lodging

Your team will stay at a local church where they will have access to bathrooms, showers, and a full kitchen. Sleeping will be on the floor, so bring air mattresses and sleeping bags, or sheets and blankets! We will eat all our meals together and participate in praise, worship and debriefing each night at the facility.

Hotels are also an option at an increased price. If your team would like to stay in a hotel, we encourage you to book your trip as quickly as possible to capture the best price. We will make these reservations for you through our partnership with various hotel groups.

Travel

Most of our teams choose to drive vans or a bus in, which also provides transportation throughout the week. If you choose to fly, Hilton Head is home to a decent size airport. You could rent vans to be used throughout the week, or request Adventures to supply one or two vans at a small additional fee to cover maintenance. Adventures vans may not be available, however, and should not be counted on. Our limited fleet is available for some teams on a first come first serve basis.

Mission Trip Offered By Adventures in Missions

You want to follow Jesus’s example in the way He cared for the lost and the hurting. You want to take up Jesus’s commission to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and be His witness to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).

Adventures in Missions is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. We emphasize prayer and relationships in our work around the world. We seek to disciple as Jesus did; our vision is that God would use us to raise up a generation of radically committed disciples of Jesus Christ.

Since we were established in 1989, we have taken over 115,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or longer. We minister year-round through our ministry bases and strategic ministry partnerships. We believe that by giving people the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and join what God is doing in other cultures and nations, lives are transformed.
