What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

IMGP5028.JPG

El Salvador, known as the “Tom Thumb” of the Americas, is the smallest Central American country and the only one without a coastline on the Caribbean Sea. With a popluation of 6,090,646 ( est.), it is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, with some 700,000 Salvadorans in need of decent, adequate housing. An estimated 30.7 percent of the population lives below the poverty line, while over 40 percent of the rural population lives in homes with dirt floors and impermanent wall materials.

The Fuller Center has been building in El Salvador since 2008, completing hundreds of homes in many communities around the country. We are currently working on a community of 100 homes in the city of Apaneca. Most importantly, Fuller Center homes are made of permanent materials that keep out the elements like concrete blocks and dry roofs instead of the rusted tin, plastic and mud that far too many familiies have lived in their whole lives. While simple by First World standards, they mark a life-changing improvement that has been shown to improve long-term family outcomes in areas like health and education, improving a family’s overall well-being.

Join us in changing the life a family forever by partnering alongside them and providing a decent, honorable home!

Mission Trip Offered By The Fuller Center for Housing

The Fuller Center for Housing is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing worldwide. By forming partnerships with local organizations, The Fuller Center provides the structure, guidance and support that communities need to build and repair homes for the impoverished among them.

We operate through local Covenant Partner organizations, which are volunteer led and driven. Visiting Global Builders teams will have the opportunity to assist one of our local Fuller Centers — called Covenant Partners — build or renovate a home for a family in need in their community.
