PRETEEN Work & Evangelism Team

Dates:  June 14 – July 22, 2022

Ages 10-12 (Adults may inquire about leadership opportunities)

Teen Missions has seen first hand the amazing ways preteens can serve the Lord, even now!

Greece is the southernmost country in Europe and is known for it's ancient history, but also for it's rugged mountains, forests, lakes, and beautiful coastlines along the Aegean Sea to the east, the Mediterranean Sea to the south and the Ionian Sea to the west.

Travel: After your training at the Lord’s Boot Camp, you bus to the Orlando International Airport and board your flight to Toronto, Canada, then across the Atlantic Ocean and Europe to Athens, the capital of Greece.  Here you will board a bus and travel north for 60 miles to Kalamos.

Ministry: The area located around Kalamos was devastated last year by forest fires that destroyed many homes and businesses.  You will be assisting in neighborhood cleanups, hauling debris from the area, painting, and landscaping projects.

Adventure: There will be an opportunity to visit Athens, where you will see the Acropolis and the Parthenon, considered one of the greatest feats of Greek antiquity. The Acropolis was the center of ancient Athens and served as a citadel protecting the city.  There may also be an opportunity to visit Agora which was the marketplace and center of everyday life in ancient Athens.

*Note:  Pre-trip training and field classes are tailored for preteens.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

With 50+ years of experience in long and short term missions ministry, Teen Missions has developed a strong relationship with the national church. Teen Missions has ministry bases in 22 countries where local youth from the national churches receive training and national church ministries receive work and evangelism projects. With over 300 full-time staff members (mostly nationals), we have a long-term presence on the ground long after the short-term team departs. This ensures that the valuable work and evangelism ministries of our summer teams are woven into the daily year-round efforts of the local host effecting lasting change and ministry fruit. Most of our teams are hosted by our own national full-time staff missionaries. Other teams are hosted by national churches and local ministries with whom, in most cases, we’ve been working with for years (if not decades).

Training debriefing
TRAINING – Your summer begins at our rugged 250-acre training facility in Merritt Island, FL. This two-week primitive camp acquaints youth and their leaders with realistic conditions of the mission field. Young missionaries learn teamwork and unity on the daily timed Obstacle Course, and experience each training activity as a team. All teams receive classes in Bible and evangelism, as well as church and open air presentation skills (music, testimony sharing, drama, puppets), and also spiritual and practical survival skills. Each team will also receive training relative to their specific project (construction basics, TESL-Teaching English as Second Language, motorcycle riding, first aid, reading glass assessment, choir, clowning, video/film, etc.). Trained adult leaders maintain strong discipline at Boot Camp and on the field. Boot Camp climaxes with a candlelight Commissioning Service under the Big Top tent, when youth and leaders depart for their particular projects. Note: Preteen teams receive shorter training and field times than teen teams, and age appropriate classes. DEBRIEF – After the summer, a few teams at a time gather for several days of blessing and fellowship, and renewing friendships made at Boot Camp. There are sessions on how to come down from a spiritually high mountain, how to get involved in the local church and youth groups at home, and how to share about your summer mission trip. Each team will get to share with the other teams what God has done during their exciting summer of service. There will be one day for sightseeing and shopping.
