Although theres a lot to see and do in Nashville, the community also has an intertwined diversity of highs and lows. Walk down one street past million-dollar homes, and around the next corner youll see low-income housing. About 13 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. Your group will be serving people of the Kenosha area from the poorest areas to the middle class neighborhoods that need your help.

What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

Kids Ministry

Years ago, Kenosha was an active center of manufacturing, but like many other cities in this part of the country, the community has been hurt by factory closures and industry changes. Currently, Kenosha has great need with hunger, foster care, and after-school/summer mentoring programs. There is a hunger gap of about 20,000 pounds of food, and over 200 kids in the foster care system… a growing number every year.

On top of that, only one school in Kenosha offers an after-school program or a summer program for kids. Week of Hope partners with organizations across the city to tackle these issues.

The city of Kenosha has targeted two areas as its top priority to address in the next five years: first, programs to help the youth of the community; and second, improvements to its urban areas. Week of Hope projects will directly and indirectly support these top two initiatives. You and your team will help the city accomplish these worthwhile goals with your involvement!

Week of Hope changes lives—including yours…

Your teenagers will perform practical, meaningful acts of community service for some very special people. People whose lives you’ll touch…whose names you’ll learn. And, you’ll enjoy a personal, friendly setting of less than 100 participants…ideal for getting to know everyone.

You and your young people will partner with local churches, service agencies, and homeowners. And over the five days, your help will bolster the efforts of the ongoing work in these communities.

Your young people will make new friends, create new memories, and have a wonderful time together. Most importantly, your teenagers will discover that as they focus on the needs of others…they grow closer to Jesus.

We’ll take care of the details for you so you can concentrate on your teenagers. Your young people will learn new skills, serve in important roles, and have loads of fun as you assist the elderly…tutor struggling kids…conduct a backyard Bible club…serve at a food bank…staff an activities camp for disabled children…spruce up the grounds of a financially strapped social service agency…engage children at a day camp…and improve the community in other important ways. You’ll also serve other trip participants through meal preparation, cleanup, and maintaining the lodging facility.

And when the sun goes down, you and your young people will experience faith-building, interactive programs that include Scripture, worship, video, and drama. Programs are coordinated by a staff member, but you, your young people, and other participants will participate in other program elements.

Your mission trip will be run by four ministry-minded staff, including two highly-trained, college-age leaders.

Bring hope to a community next summer. Give your group the chance to grow closer to Jesus at a Week of Hope.
