What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Hurricane Ida has devastated many of the coastal communities in Louisiana. Recent news reports are saying over 1 million people are now without power. In the days after the hurricane struck, families were still being rescued from their homes as the death toll rose.
Our long-time ministry partners at First Baptist Church of Avondale were hit hard. Pastor Marc Daniels sent us this message about his church that suffered extreme damage. Join us in helping First Baptist Church of Avondale to restore hope to their community.
Many of the people in Avondale and the surrounding area were already facing hard times. Some are impoverished and have now lost what little they had. Join us in restoring hope to their lives!
It’s in times like these that the Body of Christ rises up to help. We can do a few things:
-
Pray – Pray for God’s grace over these families. Pray for redemption as our God takes the ashes of disaster and turns them into beauty.
-
Give – We will be sending relief funds through our ministry partners on the ground and keeping you up to date here on this page.
-
Go! – Join us on a trip to support those in need. After Hurricane Katrina we sent 4,000 people to help in one year. This year might need a similar response.
Damage from disaster like this is beyond physical destruction. Jobs will be lost. Kids will be relocated to new schools. Families will struggle as they balance rebuilding their homes, caring for children, grieving what was lost, and managing the restoration of their communities. People's hearts are hurting.
Lodging
Prepare to bring bedding and sleep on a church floor (or similar)
Hotels may also be an option, depending on timing and availability. Pricing may vary.
Food
Will be provided. We are unsure at this time what kitchen facilities will be available, but will let you know based on the date of your trip. If you are planning a trip in the Spring or Summer, it's likely that your team will have a hot dinner, sack lunch and cold breakfast.
More details to come as we know them. If you'd like to discuss this opportunity with one of our Missions Advisors, please fill out the trip request form (it's short!) and we will get in touch.

Mission Trip Offered By Adventures in Missions
You want to follow Jesus’s example in the way He cared for the lost and the hurting. You want to take up Jesus’s commission to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and be His witness to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).
Adventures in Missions is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. We emphasize prayer and relationships in our work around the world. We seek to disciple as Jesus did; our vision is that God would use us to raise up a generation of radically committed disciples of Jesus Christ.
Since we were established in 1989, we have taken over 115,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or longer. We minister year-round through our ministry bases and strategic ministry partnerships. We believe that by giving people the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and join what God is doing in other cultures and nations, lives are transformed.
