What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Hurricane Sally has caused plenty of destruction in southern Alabama. The storm caused catastrophic flash flooding and major river flooding, leaving thousands of people without power, destroyed homes, and left some families in a wake of grief after losing a loved one.
Mission Discovery is inviting teams to join us in the recovery efforts. With almost 30 years of mission trip experience, Mission Discovery volunteers have been part of Hurricane Andrew, Sandy, Katrina, Irma, and Harvey recovery efforts.
Due to the changing nature of a recovery effort, projects may include any of the following: food distribution, cooking, covering roofs, clearing mud, removing drywall and furnishings, and working in a shelter.
Mission Discovery teams are not first responders, we are recovery volunteers who focus on helping homeowners return to their homes. Our volunteers will wait until waters recede and rescue efforts are complete.
Your team can be a part of the solution!
Daily Work Assignments:
- Each day your team will be sent out to home sites to repair, repaint, and replace what was lost during the storm. A mixture of skilled and unskilled labor is welcome. All of our work will be directed by our local church contacts.
- We will be part of a larger vision to bring healing to the neighborhoods of the Carolinas. Our staff will be on hand to help guide your team.

Mission Trip Offered By Mission Discovery
Mission Discovery trips aim to help developing communities. Teams of volunteers build homes for families in need, love on orphans, feed the hungry, clothe and educate school children, provide medical care and empower churches to bring hope to their communities. The Mission Discovery Staff arranges food, lodging, and logistics so volunteers will be effective from day one. Each night we offer a worship service to provide an atmosphere to come together and reflect on what the volunteers have experienced during the day.
Open your eyes to a world waiting to be discovered. Since 1991, God has used Mission Discovery teams to transcend language and cultural barriers to bring hope and Spiritual awakening to those who need urgent help. Since its beginning, over 50,000 students and adults have served around the world with Mission Discovery. Today, that work continues stronger than ever!
Each year Mission Discovery staff gather partners for support. Because of its passionate donors, Mission Discovery is able to lower trip prices. We want everyone to serve on a mission trip, so our goal is to make them more affordable. Together, through the power of Christ, we can make a huge difference in the world!
