What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
When you serve in Guatemala with Group International Mission Trips, you’ll have the chance to serve alongside those who are making a difference in Guatemala. This experience will grow your faith and expand your understanding of the complexity of poverty and cultural diversity.
Guatemala is located in Central America, bordering the North Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Honduras on the Caribbean Sea. It is a country rich in natural beauty and features impressive mountains, volcanoes, and lakes. It is a predominantly poor country that struggles in several areas of health and development, including infant, child, and maternal mortality, malnutrition, and illiteracy.
We have strong partnerships with dynamic ministries in Guatemala. In the small community of San Juan La Laguna, several people are working tirelessly to encourage the Guatemalan people in sustainable solutions to obstacles. This team of Americans and Guatemalans swerve alongside a Christian school and a women's cooperative to provide education, coffee farming that benefits the farmers, community garden planning, and employment opportunities for women.
When you serve in Guatemala, you bring support through helping in classrooms, building chicken coops for single mothers, assisting coffee farmers with their crops, and much more.

Here are examples of the types of projects you might be involved with:
• Light construction projects for schools
• Assisting at a local coffee farm
• Engaging in English language programs at a local school
• Supporting a local women’s cooperative (Agricultural projects like maintaining a botanic garden and improving land for higher crop yields)
You will surely get plenty of cultural interaction with Guatemalans as you serve in many beautification projects throughout the community of San Juan La Laguna. These projects may include lake shore cleanup, public plaza repair and upkeep, and a fish farm and hydroponics project at one of the local schools.
