Costa Rica is an eco-adventurers dream come true! But regular tourists dont get to see an often-hidden side of Costa Rica. Just outside the capital city of San Jos is the suburb of Alajuelita. Outside that suburb is a small migrant community of people who piece together houses with scraps and garbage they find throughout the city. Were involved with the local church in San Jos while we serve, and the church maintains a long-term relationship with the families after we build their new home, to ensure our impact is truly helpful and sustainable. Experience the transformation that happens in Costa Rica when you combine exploration and service on a Group International Mission Trip. Custom trips available.

What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

San Jose

Lush rainforests, beautiful beaches, and mountain volcanoes make Costa Rica a popular tourist destination. With much to explore, Costa Rica is an eco-adventurer’s dream come true! But regular tourists don’t get to see an often-hidden side of Costa Rica. Just outside the capital city of San José is the suburb of Alajuelita. Outside of that suburb is a small migrant community of people who piece together houses with scraps and garbage that they find throughout the city.

Our local ministry partner is passionate about giving residents the hope and pride that come from having a home with a concrete floor, stable framing, and a roof that doesn’t leak. That’s a major blessing to residents who are doing all that they can to survive and provide for their families. Just as on our Guanacaste trips, we’re involved with the local church in San José while we serve. The church maintains a long-term relationship with the families after we leave to ensure that our impact is truly helpful and sustainable.

Sample Itinerary:

Saturday – Arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO); transport to lodging facility

Sunday – Attend a local church; possibly see a local site or free afternoon

Monday-Thursday – Perform service work and outreach projects; evening devotions and God Sightings

Friday – Free day (Visit the beach or do activities such as zip lining)

Saturday – Depart for SJO airport; fly home

*Optional pre- or post-mission trip add-ons available for this location; call for details.
