What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico in September 2017. Millions of people were left without electricity, with limited access to clean water, and with damaged homes. While supplies and assistance have been arriving to the island since the hurricane, help will be needed for years to come to rebuild Puerto Rico.
Prior to the hurricane, Group International Mission Trips had strong relationships with mayors and local churches in several municipalities, and never has the time been so right for those strong relationships to shine. We will be working with closely with the mayors and the churches to provide much needed assistance to hurricane victims, whether that will be through distributing food and supplies, or identifying which homes are in need of critical repair and providing teams to help with painting, roof repair, debris clean-up, or whatever else is needed.
Partner information:
We have partnered with local churches and the city governments in various locations throughout the island in order to serve the elderly and disabled members of these communities through home repair projects. You will provide much-needed maintenance, yard work, and cleaning to elderly and disabled individuals who can no longer care for their homes effectively on their own. No special skills are needed – just a willing heart to serve!
Sample Itinerary:
Saturday – Arrive at San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport (SJU); pick up your rental vehicle(s) and drive to your lodging facility
Sunday – Attend local church in the morning; cultural activity in the afternoon
Monday-Tuesday – Service projects; evening devotions and God Sightings
Wednesday – Free day to enjoy the beach, forest, and/or Old San Juan
Thursday-Friday – Continue service projects; evening devotions and God Sightings
Saturday – Depart for SJU airport; fly home
