What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

We coordinate trips to meet the specific needs of teams made up of all ages. From the service projects to the evening program to a day off to explore the local area, each day is scheduled to help connect your family, your group or you as an individual with experiences that will have a lasting impact in each person's life.

During your trip you will meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the Navajo people. Physical needs are met primarily through construction and renovation projects. (No previous experience necessary.)

Spiritual needs are met in a number of creative and culturally appropriate ways. You will most likely engage in a combination of the following outreach activities such as host Kids Club, home visits to local Navajo homes to learn about family life on the reservation and the culture of the Navajo Nation, a community –wide celebration with a barbeque, face painting and games, and an opportunity to worship within the community with a local congregation.

In 2001, World Servants began to work with the Navajo Nation, located in the Four Corners area of Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. We partnered with the Navajo churches and communities to provide facilities such as community centers and tutoring halls, for the Navajo youth, as well as construct playgrounds, basketball courts and baseball fields on the reservation. Since then World Servants has mobilized more than 1,800 people, armed with building supplies, manpower, and most importantly the love of Christ, to work alongside the Navajo people.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Flexibility is the key! ALL ministry/outreach activities are customized to the communities' specific needs and are often determined closer to the time of the trip. Our goal is to partner with the community we are going to serve and participants are asked to remain flexible and open to the opportunities for “being” and “doing” what the Spirit provides.

**Customized trips are available.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

For sustainable, long-term impact, World Servants works in our partner communities long before you arrive. A team of in-field community leaders are identified to build a vision for their community. We train and equip these leaders to successfully partner with our short-term teams in an effort to build long-term relationships.

Once the short-term mission teams leave, we continue to strengthen relationships with community leaders and identify extended opportunities for you to come alongside them, as well.
