What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

New Orleans is the most populous city in Louisiana. This incredible city has been described as the 'most unique' in the United States owing in large part to its cross-cultural and multilingual heritage plus it’s famous Bourbon street and Historic French Quarter. The city has historically been very vulnerable to flooding, due to such factors as high rainfall, low lying elevation, poor natural drainage and location next to multiple bodies of water. In August, 2005, the city was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina followed by devastating flooding of approximately 80% of the city. Shortly after that is when Adventures started to bring teams to help rebuild and share the love of Christ.

Ministry Overview

Your team will partner with Jesus Project in New Orleans. Over the past 15 years, this ministry has worked hard to support the families and children affected by Hurricane Katrina in an area called Holly Grove. To this day, they continue to invest in this neighborhood.

Your team will support Jesus Project in a number of their ministry efforts. At their Apple Street Learning Center, they have dedicated tutors and mentors, over 1,500 hours of one-on-one tutoring annually, access to technology, and consistent individual care. In addition, The Food 4 Kids program provides healthy after school and summer camp snacks, takeaway lunch bags, and weekend family boxes.

During your time in New Orleans, you will also get to serve with our ministry partner Bethel Colony South, Men’s (and Women’s) Transformation Center. Here you’ll help in their thrift store, participate in Bible Studies, paint and help with light construction, and possibly work with women and their small kids.

Mission Trip Offered By Adventures in Missions

You want to follow Jesus’s example in the way He cared for the lost and the hurting. You want to take up Jesus’s commission to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28) and be His witness to the ends of the earth (Acts 1).

Adventures in Missions is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. We emphasize prayer and relationships in our work around the world. We seek to disciple as Jesus did; our vision is that God would use us to raise up a generation of radically committed disciples of Jesus Christ.

Since we were established in 1989, we have taken over 115,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or longer. We minister year-round through our ministry bases and strategic ministry partnerships. We believe that by giving people the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and join what God is doing in other cultures and nations, lives are transformed.
