What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
About the Dominican Republic:
The Dominican Republic is home to 230 bateyes (settlements around a sugar mill) that once formed the backbone of the economy. Many of these bateyes are settled by Haitian immigrants. There is a long history of enmity and bigotry between the native Dominicans and the immigrant Haitians/descendants of the Haitians. Bateyes tend to be the poorest of the poor areas in the Dominican Republic. We will come alongside local ministries to aid in community development and provide food and water, small business opportunities, child sponsorship, and children and youth ministries as we share the love of Jesus.
Bold Hope is not only partnered in short term missions, but also in deep, long-lasting HOPE Initiatives in these locations. This allows your group to not only serve but making lasting connections through child sponsorships or ongoing ministry efforts year-round.
