What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

IMG_3922 This trip will partner with Last Frontier Ministries to serve the small rural village of Minto, Alaska. Their Mission Statement says they are “Dedicated to bring the gospel to the unreached people groups of the world through establishing Godly relationships, discipling new believers and rising up new leaders in the church, who in turn will carry out the Great Commission.” Last Frontier Ministries does not limit itself to only one means of bringing the love of Christ to others. They engage in several different strategies to get the Gospel message to those that need to hear.

Most of the week will be spent serving in the small rural village of Minto, Alaska. Minto is a beautiful village with Native American families who have lived there for many Generations! The tribal traditions run deep in Minto and the people of Minto are warm, caring and inviting once the respect has been earned. This trip is a mix of service projects, such as painting and stacking wood, and spending time getting to know the community and encouraging them spiritually through door to door ministry, and VBS for the children. The town is in great need of spiritual encouragement.

This team will also spend a few days serving with Last Frontier in Healy, AK. Healy experiences an immense growth in population over the summers with many tourists coming to visit the Denali National Park and also with many seasonal employees who come from all over the world to work there! Last Frontier’s vision is to host worship nights and give people a safe hang out spot, where they can grab a coffee and a snack and listen to the Gospel and worship music. That is why they are building “The Pit” and a coffee shop next to it. Both are still under construction and the team will help with this project and other ministry opportunities while in Healy. While there, you will also be able to experience the amazing beauty of Denali National Forest!

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

We partner with organizations, orphanages and ministries around the world that care for children and communities. Every country is a bit different but in each case we send God’s people to come alongside our partner orphanages, communities and ministries to encourage those who are doing the day to day work, to assist in that work and help raise awareness as each partner sees fit, and above all - to love people in Jesus’ name. Our trips are about “being” rather than “doing” although we certainly want to help where we can. We believe that the best place to start is in relationships with one another.
