What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

DR1.JPG

Are you gifted at loving others through tangible acts of service?

Do you often find yourself meeting people’s physical needs?

Do you like to build things with your hands?

Are you interested in seeing God work everyday miracles?

We are Casas por Cristo. In English, this translates to “Houses because of Christ”. We partner short-term missionaries, like you, with pastors and churches in our five locations to build homes for families in need. Our mission is to build and serve.

WE BUILD:

  • homes for families who need to be reminded that Jesus loves them.

  • relationships between these families and the local pastors. The pastors choose the families in need and walk alongside them before, during, and after the construction of their home, explaining that Christ’s great love for them would provide not only a free home here on Earth but more importantly, a free eternal home in Heaven.

  • relationships between volunteers, families, and pastors who would have otherwise never met.

  • the Kingdom of God by partnering with local churches and ministries, leveraging their influence and history within their communities and their common language to reach those who don’t know the love of Christ.

  • opportunities for growth by creating structured experiences where our volunteers can be stretched beyond their comfort zones.

In just one short week, you will build a home for a family. Your labor is a demonstration of Christ’s great love for his people. A love that cannot be earned, but accepted.

No construction experience? That’s OK! You will be working alongside a Casas por Cristo missionary who will teach you everything you need to know. There is no experience necessary.

Don’t speak another language? That’s OK! Our pastors and missionaries can help you translate. But your hard work and generous smile will convey Christ’s love as well!

All we need from you is a generous heart and willing hands. We will guide you the rest of the way.

You may come to give the gift of a home to a family in need, but you will leave with so much more!

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

We partner with local national pastors who select the families most in need. The pastors visit with the families before the the home is built as well as after the home is completed. The national pastors encourage the families to plug into the local church. As a result of building homes for families a door is opened that allows the pastor to present the Gospel. This builds the national churches through discipleship.

We have since expanded to Ciudad Acua, Mxico; San Raymundo, Guatemala; Santiago, Dominican Republic; and Chinandega, Nicaragua. To date, we have provided over 5,000 families with homes. We are dedicated to meeting the physical need of better housing as a way of also meeting the spiritual need for Jesus Christ.
