What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

Camp Curry scenery

Do you have fond memories of the way that God was pleased to impact your walk with Christ by the faithful efforts of Christians laboring to teach and mentor you at Christian summer camps? This mission team will help a small congregation in Winchester, Kansas to not only organize, publicize and carryout their vacation Bible school program, but will also get to help them to amplify the usefulness of a nearby camp.

If you and your group like to work outdoors, this is a trip for you! Team members help prepare the camp for a busy season of day camps and retreats by mowing, trimming trees, painting and possibly creating a nature trail. In addition, we are looking for people who might help us creatively design some day camps to showcase the creative ways the camp might be increasingly utilized to the glory of Christ and the strengthening of His Church.

What other skills could be useful? Perhaps art/drawing skills, publicity, photography, teaching and curriculum skills, knowledge of Reformed theology, craft skills, music skills either instrumental or singing (to help with campfires), web design or social media skills, etc. Almost any skill can be utilized, what is most important is that participants come with a desire to serve and a willingness to learn and follow the local leadership of the church, as it is the local congregation that will need to be confident that they can continue and build upon those things that God would be pleased to use us to help initiate.

Do you like to camp? If you like the idea of spending a couple weeks tenting in the outdoors (with ready access to those helpful amenities of running water, showers, cooking facility) we hope you will take this opportunity to grow in your service to Christ.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

Each RP Missions trip is partnered with a local congregation, in this case we will be partnering with the Winchester Reformed Presbyterian Church. Several years ago, the famed artist, John Stuart Curry, gifted a property to the church that became Camp Curry. Over the years it has been used for retreats, conferences, worship services, family reunions and other special activities. As happens in ministry, every once in a while it can be a blessing to bring some fresh eyes and helping hands to the camp to identify ways to re-invigorate programs, and to see needs that can easily be addressed. Come be part of this effort to encourage faithful believers and aid them in extending their reach into the community and increase the usefulness of this lovely part of God’s Creation.

Our aim with these online efforts is to save you the time and expense of traveling to a training location, but also to facilitate your getting acquainted with other “Christian servants” from around the world, who like you, are eager to use the gifts God has given for His glory and the encouragement and benefit of our neighbors.

Mission Trip Offered By RP Missions

RP Missions seeks to provide opportunities for God’s people to serve Christ through short-term efforts partnering with established congregations and mission stations. Our primary tasks are to Serve Christ and His Church, Proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, and Disciple the Nations.

Our trips are primarily aimed at young people (Sr. High through College) but do consider groups who would like to get acquainted with missionary service. We desire to see Christian men and women grow in their confidence to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and to grow in service to Christ and His Church.

You will enjoy working alongside pastors, elders, deacons, missionaries and other church workers that can inspire you with their vision and aid you in discovering the tools that God has been pleased to give you through regular study of His Word and the investment of your parents and local church.

If you have an overwhelming desire to serve Christ, to reach the “lost” with the good news of Jesus Christ, and if you are eager to get to know brothers and sisters in Christ from across His kingdom, we hope you will consider applying for an RP Missions trip!

Our mission efforts are open to young people from the United States and Canada.
