What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
“Share your Love & Care with Underprivileged Children in Cape Town.”
Further Information:
THE PROJECT
The children we teach are aged between 2-7 years old (There are 60 children in total at the school). This Project gives you the opportunity to build rewarding relationships with the children. The children can speak English although their home language is Afrikaans or Xhosa. During your time at this Project you will have the opportunity to take part in visiting the township and the people at their homes as well as assisting at the children's centre. We have a huge need for volunteers to help us at this Project. The children come from very poor backgrounds. Some of the children are Orphans and don't have parents. The centre is short staffed due to the large volume of children in need. You will experience the satisfaction of watching these children progress and develop. Your role as volunteer is very important in changing and shaping these children’s lives. As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to serve at the school and assist the teacher with teaching the children: Arts and Crafts, Music / worship, Prayer, reading to the children and playing sports with the children outside. This project is loads of fun and your efforts will be greatly appreciated. Any old clothes, shoes and blankets are a welcome donation to the community. They are always in need of these. Please let us know if you would also like to join our Surfing project in the afternoons.
ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS
Volunteers are housed at our comfortable, Safe and cosy accommodation, only a 5-10 minute walk to the shops and restaurants. The beach is a 20 minute walk away. Fresh Bedding is provided weekly (volunteers must bring their own towels). The house offers free wi-fi. Bottled water is readily available in South Africa however the tap water is safe to drink. We offer a fully equipped kitchen for you to cook in. You can choose between cooking meals on your own, or joining in with the other volunteers.
