What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

Surf Project “Work with children and teach the underprivileged to surf”.
The program runs From Tuesday to Saturday (from 10.30 am - 5.30 pm) with Sundays and Mondays free to explore the area and Go to the Local Church. Our aim is to help many children in need whilst adding hope and Love into their lives. This Project was founded by Mandy Weschta in 2007, Since then Many Surf schools have started teaching Surfing to the Less Privileged children. We give the children encouragement by teaching them new skills and helping them with their Home work daily before Surfing. These children are from very poor backgrounds. We encourage the children and continue to introduce a good foundation into their lives. We are teaching the children new skills such as: Surfing, Soccer, Literacy and Reading, Computer literacy and programming, African Drumming and Creative movement and Arts and Crafts, Ocean Conservation and Environmental Education. Your help and assistance in running these Projects will be much appreciated. We do have a leader working with you during all the activities. These projects run throughout the year (except from the 20th December - 15th January the surfing project is closed).

We welcome you as a volunteer to Pray with the children and read the bible to them.

PROJECT LOCATION

The Project is based in Muizenberg, only 30 minutes from Cape Town City Centre. Muizenberg beach is one of Cape Town’s most magnificent, Pristine white beaches, and is renowned for the most consistent waves in Cape Town. The Project is based next to the beach in a Large Surf Outreach Building, this building is fully equipped to cater for all the children's needs: Surfing, Soccer, Education, African Drumming, Library, Literacy and Sports Gear. We are based in the Muizenberg Sea side Village close to: shops and internet access (free wi-fire). We teach Surfing and Educational Programs to Many Less Privileged children from Capricorn Township who come to the Project from just 15 minutes away from Muizenberg. These children have a great need for one on one attention. They come from very less Privileged back grounds. Some of the Children are Orphans and others live with their relatives. Our aim is to add HOPE AND LOVE into their lives. We aim to Improve the Children's Education levels at School through creating a sports platform for the children to attend in the afternoons (once they have completed their Home work at our Centre).

At the Outreach Program, we assist the children with their home work, Prayer with them and teach them to surf. We use Surfing as a reward for the children once they have completed their home work each day. As a volunteer, we really need your help with Praying with the children, assisting them with their home work and Sharing Jesus Love with them. Our Hearts are to Impact children's lives and see their lives restored, bringing Hope and Practical answers to the children and their Families. Our Aim is to see the children and Youth come into a transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. We would love for you to Join in on this vision. The Street children's Surfing Project was founded by Mandy Weschta in 2007, since then Many surf schools started teaching the less Privileged children to Surf in Muizenberg. We are so happy that so many children are having the opportunity to Surf their way to Success.
