What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

The Project is based in Cape Town, in a breathtakingly beautiful village right near to the beach, situated in the Western Cape, Southern Peninsula of Cape town. This Project involves working with the humble Township Community and less Privileged children from the Township and shanti areas in Cape Town. We are based in the Sea side Village close to: shops, internet access, free Wi-fi and the beach is within walking distance.

Volunteers must be 18 years or older, unless accompanied by an adult. No specific skills or qualifications are necessary besides an understanding of Soccer or any other sport, a reasonable level of fitness and a willingness to help the Underprivileged and to Minister into their lives. All volunteers must have adequate Hospital cover travel insurance.

This Project gives you the opportunity to work with the Township Children whilst teaching them Soccer daily from 2pm-5pm. The school we teach at is based on the Southern Peninsula of Cape town. The children come from less privileged back grounds, and they need one on one attention. You can also assist at the school in the mornings helping the teachers around the school too if you would like too. The greatest need at the school is to help the teach the children Netball, basketball and soccer. Sharing in the Children’s joy and enthusiasm is most rewarding and your helping hands will be greatly appreciated. The Sports Project is aimed at building team work amongst the Children, and to equip them with another life skills. Few of them have had the opportunity of playing sport, so it is an exciting new challenge for them. We also welcome you to open in Pray with the children before the sports and close in pray after the sports. You are also most welcome to prepare a short bible study to share with the children. Spiritual food is essential to helping the children in growing in their faith. Any old clothes, shoes and blankets are a welcome donation to the community. In the mornings you can explore the area or visit the child care/ orphan care centre and help out there.

The program runs daily – Monday to Friday. We started this project to give something back to South Africa. We saw the Great need for the children to partake in extra Mural activities, to keep them away from substance abuse and bad habits. Many of the children have been left alone to care for themselves, or have been looked after by members of the community. These children are from very poor backgrounds. Some of the children are orphaned and don't have parents. We really need your help with teaching them sports such as soccer, netball and Basketball. We ask that you bring your best sports skill and come and teach the children. We have a great need for volunteers to help with assisting in teaching sport and we would love to welcome you. This project runs all year round except for school holiday dates: 7th December- 6th January 2018, 29th March- 9th April, 23rd June – 16th July, 29th Sept- 8th October, 13th December – 15th January 2022.
