REQUIREMENTS

We have a great need for native English speakers to assist English language learners and practice with students in our school as well as assist Restoration Ministries’ Children-at-Risk Program.

A growing relationship with Jesus Christ. A servants heart and a desire to learn how to effectively share the Gospel in a multi-cultural ministry context. We are looking for someone who will build relationships, is evangelistically oriented, motivational, interested in learning and teaching language, and flexible.

Communication Skills: able to meaningfully communicate well on speaking, writing, listening and reading.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an English Teacher:

– Build relationships with students for the sake of presenting the gospel and help them to develop fluency in English language by: assisting students as a conversational partner or tutor; leading content-specific classes in English, such as Bible studies, cooking, orcraft classes (there are many class theme possibilities)

– Help to lead, organize, and execute school events

– Assist local Brazilian teachers in English classes

– Help to plan, organize, and execute ‘immersion classes’ that help students practice language based on real-world scenarios

As a Children-at-Risk Team Member:

Assist in Restoration Ministries program at the slums by participating in the following:

– Agita (as RM named their "block party") is the ministry's mobile street program. The ministry takes the Agita to four different favelas on a weekly basis.

– Home Visits: As Restoration Ministries spends time in a slum, relationships are developed with the children and their families. The RM staff fosters these relationships by visiting community residents in their homes. You will have an opportunity to learn first-hand how these children live and share a short encouraging message with them.

– Small Groups: Assist RM staff with logistics and organizing children bible studies

– Community Services: Assist RM staff with logistics and organizing worship and bible sharing gatherings.

– Help with events, evangelism, etc.

– RM also encourages a OPTIONAL proposed project. You are welcome to bless RM’s people in any area of its need with your talents and gifts. You can develop a project related with you area of expertise.

LIVING ENVIRONMENT

Interns live either in church dorms or in a family home, depending on availability. If living at the church, the person will be responsible for cooking their own food. Groceries are within walking distance, and the kitchen is stocked with all needed supplies. If living with a family the person will adjust to the family routine and/or cook your own food if it is needed.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

The two words that best describe WorldVenture’s vision for the future are “training” and “missions.” New opportunities are arising to prepare leaders for ministry here and around the world. Brazil is establishing its place as a major missionary-sending country and WorldVenture is helping train Brazilians to go forth and expand the harvest for Christ. WorldVenture has been working in Brazil since 1946.

Mission Trip Offered By WorldVenture

Billions of people don’t know Jesus. We’re not okay with that.

More than words, they are a reminder on the wall of our main office of why we do what we do. Since 1943, God has used thousands of WorldVenture workers and partners to impact millions with the good news.
We plant churches, build clinics, educate children, train leaders, provide disaster relief, combat injustice, foster the arts, and serve the poor with economic development…in Jesus name and to make disciples.
We recruit, train, and send disciples of Jesus throughout the world who sense Gods call to give their lives to share the gospel with people who have yet to hear it. And we partner with multitudes of Christ-following disciples in engaging the world for gospel impact.
