What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
Nashville is known by many as the new ‘Ellis Island’. It is leading the nation in new legal immigrants. Therefore, we are working with local councils and community groups to organize projects that will improve the quality of life for these wonderful, many times overlooked people. The nations are here; let’s go to them in Jesus name!
We work in diverse locations throughout Nashville, here's a preview:
* Refugee Apartment Complexes: We work with the management of 7 low-income apartment complexes that provide housing for thousands of neglected immigrants and refugees. We assist these families by facilitating day camps for children, hosting sports camps, and installing community gardens.
* Widow Ministry: We have ongoing relationships with a dozen widows that live within minutes of our headquarters. We serve them year round via construction projects, landscaping, counseling & prayer, & cleaning.
* Hopewell Community Garden: Through working in this garden we help supply food to the local widows we reach out to. Students often have the chance to work in the garden and finish the day by delivering fresh fruits and vegetables to elderly widows.
* Local Non-Profits: We partner with over 40 local non-profit organizations that have ongoing ministry with a variety of people groups (elderly, homeless, inner-city children, & other underprivileged populations).
In addition to the projects of the week, your participants will be engaged with God's word and living examples of what it means to serve like Jesus. SLAM is truly commited to mobilizing students in hopes that they leave the week knowing that the Lord has met them as they have given themselves to others. We want to empower them to continue to do so in their homes, schools, communities, and even around the globe. This week simply becomes practice and a launchpad into the calling that the Lord has on each one to love God and others using their unique gifts and relationships.

Mission Trip Offered By Students Living a Mission (SLAM)
Students Living a Mission (SLAM) mobilizes students ages 12-25 to live a mission in imitation of Jesus Christ by serving the poor and underprivileged through community service. We partner with local churches and other student groups and provide intentional domestic and international mission trips that benefit the communities being served while also developing the participants for ongoing work in building God’s kingdom . Students are equipped to learn God’s word, experience God’s presence, and discover the call to serve wherever they go.
