What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
The children and staff at Bourofaye Christian School have the privilege of living in a strong supportive Christian environment. A counselor is needed to help keep that standard high by giving pastoral support and guidance to the 115 staff and students who form the community there. This role involves guiding both proactively as well as in response to issues as they arise.
There will be opportunities for you to contribute in other ways. Each person on site is asked to served based on their abilities and giftings in other areas of their lives beyond their professional status.
The school is located in a rural area, but has excellent facilities as it is just 30 miles from Dakar. The school year starts in August and goes through until mid July. Staff are on volunteer missionary terms.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals
The school serves WEC and other mission families in Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Ivory Coast. This is a boarding school although families that live close enough to the school can also weekly board or day pupil their children. This way parents are able to focus on the national church while knowing that their children are well taken care of.

Due to the Covid-19 virus, we did not send any short-termers out in 2020. However, we are taking applications now in 2021 so that participants will be ready to go forward if things open up this fall. Proof of a full vaccine for Covid may be required to get into some countries so you might want to think about that before making plans to travel overseas.
