What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

Costa Rica Mission Trip

Costa Rica is only a three-hour flight from Miami, but you’ll feel the cultural difference the minute you step off the plane. Millions of tourists trek there every year because of its natural beauty, but you’ll be going there to immerse yourself into the culture and get to know the heart of its wonderful people.

*Note: Soccer in Costa Rica is highly competitive; however, we will have pickup games for everyone to play to keep our team together.

Ministry—The Costa Rica mission trip is a summer of reaching out to the locals as you form meaningful relationships with the people of Cachi and surrounding villages. You and your team will use a combination of street performances and soccer matches to initiate conversations. Between soccer matches and pickup games, everyone who wants to play will have an opportunity. And just so you know, the “Ticos” take their futból seriously.

Adventure—Costa Rica is a laid back country located in the heart of Central America. It has coastlines on the Pacific Ocean in the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east, with a beautiful rainforest in between filled with waterfalls, volcanoes… and organic coffee farms! Whether cruising down a zip-line in the jungle or chillin' on the beach, Costa is just waiting to be explored.

Experience Culture—Latin culture is known for its warm and relaxed approach to life. Costa Rica’s motto is ¡Pura vida!, which means Pure Life! Relationships are key, so expect to make friends and learn more about their way of life as you share a cup of coffee or hang out between futból matches. You can expect to find people who simply love life and take their time to enjoy it!

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

Your ministry in Costa Rica will be defined and organized by the local pastors, church members, ministry directors, and missionaries who are our ministry partners. But mainly we will be working with Pastor Alfonso, a long term partner and friend to Royal Servants teams.
