What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
The Mayan Yucatan has long been recognized as a spectacular tourist destination. However, there are many areas of the Maya Yucatan that have people who live in extreme poverty. By partnering with DCI, your team is in relationship with an organization making an impact on the ground for 25 years. Some of the ministry opportunities you may be involved in are construction and repair of homes, outreach programs for Mayan Children, and supporting local ministries through service efforts. You are needed, come and help make a lasting difference in the Mayan World.
DCI always has two to three evangelism projects taking place such as: (1) In one particular week you may be caring for street dogs, because the village has a high number of suffering street dogs. This builds relationships with Mayan Villages to share Jesus with them. (2) Another example, one week we may be painting a school to make a better environment for the Mayan students. (3) There’s always a week where our emphasis is on reaching out to Mayan law-enforcement, blessing them for their work and sacrifice. (4) There’s always several weeks a year that we will reach out to Elementary Mayan children with educational supplies. (5) Other weeks we reach out to high school students with mentoring programs and sports. (6) Then we have a program for college campuses called “50 Strong”, a mentoring program. (7) During rainy season we always pour sidewalks as a part of your missionary experience so that students are not walking through mud puddles full of bacteria. (8) Some weeks during the year a great emphasis is giving Bibles and biblical literature for the added emphasis. (9) There’s always a week where we’re honoring teachers and educators for the hard work they do in education. (10) Other weeks the main emphasis is on giving out reading glasses with eye exams village to village. (11) There are times during the year that we connect you with an area Mayan Family to build cultural ties and bonds. (12) There are weeks where the main emphasis is bringing food door ton door to the hungry people. (13) There are weeks designed where the whole focus is caring for street children. (14) There are weeks where we focus on the elderly and feeble. (15) When school is out we focus on VBS programs village to village. (16) Evangelize Island Mayan Fishermen.
