If you join this Kenya mission trip, you'll be working in schools within some of Nairobi's vast slums that encircle the city. You'll be partnering with Kenyan believers in reaching out to disadvantaged students, developing relationships, and having deep conversations about Christ. And no journey to Kenya is complete without seeing exotic animals. Who knows, you just might get a chance to kiss a giraffe or watch a baby elephant get fed.

What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

29406498714_682a21667a_o (1).jpg

If you join this Kenya mission trip, you’ll be working in schools within some of Nairobi’s vast slums that encircle the city. You’ll be partnering with Kenyan believers in reaching out to disadvantaged students, developing relationships, and having deep conversations about Christ. And no journey to Kenya is complete without seeing exotic animals … who knows, you just might get a chance to kiss a giraffe or watch a baby elephant get fed!

Ministry—You will be working in and around the slums of Korogocho. Over 30 ethnic groups and 150,000-200,000 people living in a 1 ½ square mile radius call Korogocho home. You and your teammates will be involved in orphanage visitation, medical ministry, and some door-to-door ministry. You’ll also work in schools to build friendships and challenge students in relationships, academic excellence, and Christian faith. Many in the West may not see “academic excellence” as a big deal, but in the slums, a good education is essential and a tangible way out of poverty.

Adventure—Within the surrounding landscapes of Nairobi lie many adventures with some of the most incredible animals God has created; sightings of ostriches, buffalo, rhinos, hippos, leopards, giraffes, elephants, and lions are all possible on this trip.

Additionally, we take in the culture through excellent local foods and visiting "Bomas of Kenya," where we see local tribal dances and experience tribal communal living.

Experience Culture—Tourists tend to view the culture of Kenya from the comfort of 4-star hotels or out the windows of deluxe air-conditioned buses. However, you’ll be seeing Kenya’s culture from the inside as you get to know and make friends with the people of Korogocho. Whether sleeping, eating, or doing Kingdom work, you’ll be immersed in the culture of this amazing country and learn to value and celebrate its wonderful people.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals

We’re partnering with long-term missionaries who know the scene and are deeply invested in the people. Our goal is to be a resource to those faithful workers: to go where they say to go and do what they say to do. They will keep a low profile and put some distance between themselves and us to minimize the risk of compromising their security. Even still, you’ll enjoy the opportunity to worship alongside them, help in their work, and hear their stories of life on the field.
