Full Description:
YOUR TRIP FEE INCLUDES RT AIRFARE! You will help with projects at a high school for orphans in western Kenya and assist with a medical camp for the community. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve Jesus among some of the areas of greatest need in communities that have been ravaged by HIV/AIDS. Parents and local authorities have asked us to help create several secondary schools in rural locations to provide higher education for the ever-growing number of orphans who genuinely desire to go to school. Your team will help with various light construction projects including the completion of new classrooms. Experience is not ever required...you are welcome to even if you just want to teach, hold babies, or play with the kids. We also need people who know construction, brick work, block work, plumbing, solar, concrete workers, electricians, medicine, doctors, nurses, first aid, fish care, and other related fields. We need you since we don't know everything and truly need the help! We do have qualified team leaders to help you learn how to do much of the needed work. We will also partner with the local hospital for a one or two-day medical outreach. This team will also spend a day and night at a national game park for a safari to view wild animals in their natural habitat and time permitting, visit an active orphan home serviced by the churches we serve. The team will debrief in Nairobi before returning home.

The schools we serve were originally started by local churches and we are working with these churches and the community in order to provide much-needed, rural high schools.

Trip fees also include RT airfare from most major US aiports, hotel and private lodging, lodging and fees for the game park and resort, debriefing expense in Nairobi, most meals, some of the material cost related to the construction projects. Additional team member costs include a passport, Kenya visa ($25), daily fluids (water, soda, etc), and spending money. We recommend bringing about $150-$300 additional to cover these expenses.

Young people under the age of 18 need to have parental or guardian approval to participate. Prefield training is required for participation on any team and will be done by correspondence. Previous short term experience is helpful but like construction experience, it is not required.

English, but Ki-Swahili is always a plus but not necessary since most speak English quite well.

If you have medical experience and/or are able to instruct in the areas of sanitation and HIV/AIDS awareness, please apply; we need you too! We will have a medical outreach to the community if medical personnel join the team. Long-term opportunities are available to our short-termers at the schools we serve in Western Province.

The team will be visiting either the Nakuru Game Park or Maasai Mara Game Refuge and spending the night there following the work portion of the trip. In addition, this group will debrief in Nairobi Kenya before returning home. This is time well spent during the holidays and will certainly change your life!
