What the Mission Trip Will Be Like

ASP Youth Program

Bring your group to Appalachia to make homes warmer, safer, and drier. You'll return home with volunteers who are stronger, wiser, and closer to God.

Appalachia Service Project provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation — and the program is designed to be turn-key. ASP takes much of the burden of logistics off of you — and frees you to minister to the hearts and minds of your volunteers.

We'll provide you with plans for the preparation phase: from group program tips, to fundraising tools, to study materials to help your team members learn about Appalachian culture. Getting ready for ASP will be a high point of your program year — an exciting goal that rallies families and draws group members closer together.

When you arrive for your week of service, you'll be housed in one of ASP's several base camps — often a school or community center rented for the summer to put you closer to Appalachia's remote communities. Your group will receive all the tools, construction materials and supervision they need to be productive. Not to mention three meals a day and plenty of opportunities for worship and reflection.

But ASP is more than a building program — it's a relationship ministry. Your group will spend a lot of time interacting with the Appalachian family they've been assigned to serve. They'll forge friendships and learn lessons that will enrich their faith and build character for the rest of their lives.

Armed with a new heart for Christian service, they will begin to give back to their own families, to your organization, and to your community. For many, this experience is the first step towards a lifelong vocation of caring for others.

We provide tons of resources to help you plan your trip, learn about Appalachian history and culture, conduct effective fundraisers, and how to apply the ASP experience once a group returns home.

Mission Trip Offered By Appalachia Service Project

Appalachia Service Project (ASP) provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation — bringing thousands of volunteers from around the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families. ASP is more than just a building program. Yes, Appalachia’s families urgently need your help, but they can help change your life; because when you change the lives of others, they have a way of changing you, too.

Appalachia Service Project (ASP) is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair in Central Appalachia. Our vision is to see substandard housing in Central Appalachia eradicated and everyone who comes in contact with ASP transformed.
