ALASKA ADVENTURE: Salmon Frenzy 2013 (Week 1)

Full Description:
Alaska Dipnetting. Located on a safe, family-friendly environment as families are gathered at the mouth of the great Kenai River to dip-net salmon out of the waters. Mission teams will host beach kids' club, give away water bottles, give away hotdogs, beach cleanup/prayer walk, supervise bouncy toys, host a beach chapel, and evening bonfires. This is a BEACH REACH where Alaskans gather and are accessible. Come along and help us breakdown their stereotypes of Christians!! We are going to serve them HARD !!

This year, we are extending ministry into the local Kenai community with service projects and construction. This will take the form of clearing trails, small repairs in homes, and community outreach.

Other: Fly into Anchorage; our team will meet you with ground transportation. You spend first night in Anhorage (included in price); next day, drive 4 hours to Kenai, AK.

Comments: All workers will be certified in food handling, since one of our projects includes hosting a free hotdog stand at the beach.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church
and/or Long-term Goals:
Alaskans are gathered at the Kenai Beach every year when the Department of Fish and Game allows residents to gather fish by dip-net. Prime opportunity to serve them and share the love of Christ. Contacts from this outreach will aid churches and church planters in start-ups.

Funds needed: Total : $540 (US)
Included in Cost: Lodging and Meals
Other: $540 Price includes first night in private dorm room; lodging, bedding, transportation, most meals. We can aid you in tips for getting good prices for airfare.
Price increases by $590/person if deposits are received later than May 15, 2013.
ITINERARY:
Tuesday July 09 - Arrive Anchorage and spend night in Dorm at University of Alaska
Wednesday July 10 - buffet breakfast at UAA Cafeteria; sightseeing drive to Kenai; settle into your host lodging at a church
Thursday July 11 - Orientation at FBC Kenai
FRI/SAT/SUN July 12, 13, & 14 SALMON FRENZY BEACH REACH
Monday July 15 - Sightseeing with your group
Tuesday July 16 - Drive back to Anchorage for departure, evening

Participant Information, Recommendations, Requirements:
Participant Age: Jr. High, Sr. High, College, Adult, and Seniors
Eligible to Go: Groups [max size 20], Married Couples, and Families
Education / Experience: All workers will be certified in food handling, since one of our projects includes hosting a free hotdog stand at the beach. Get certified online, and acquire a food worker ID, but stop short of paying the $10 fee for a card. http://alaska.state.gegov.com/foodworker/

Other: Be sure to make your airfare arrangements in concert with our trip itinerary. If you arrive days early/leave late, we may not be able to accommodate your group for the additional days. You may have to rent a vehicle/hotel, and this can be very expensive!

This trip is designed to give participants a wide range of mission experiences in an unique setting in the Alaska. You will work alongside career missionaries and a local Southern Baptist church.
