ALASKA Salmon Frenzy 2012 (Week 2)

Full Description:
Located on a safe, family-friendly environment as families are gathered at the mouth of the great Kenai River to dip-net salmon out of the waters. Mission teams will host beach kids' club, give away water bottles, give away hotdogs, beach cleanup/prayer walk, supervise bouncy toys, host a beach chapel, and evening bonfires. This is a BEACH REACH where Alaskans gather and are accessible. Come along and help us breakdown their stereotypes of Christians!! We are going to serve them HARD !!

This year, we will extend our ministry into the local Kenai Community through home repairs, clearing trails, and church construction projects.

Our project is located 3.5 hours south of Anchorage in Kenai, Alaska.

Comments: All workers will be certified in food handling, since one of our projects includes hosting a free hotdog stand at the beach.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church
and/or Long-term Goals:
Alaskans are gathered at the Kenai Beach every year when the Department of Fish and Game allows residents to gather fish by dip-net. Prime opportunity to serve them and share the love of Christ. Contacts from this outreach will aid churches and church planters in start-ups.

Other: $475 Price includes lodging, bedding, transportation, most meals. We can aid you in tips for getting good prices for airfare.
Price increases by $50/person if deposits are received later than May 15, 2012.
ITINERARY:
Arrive Anchorage Tuesday evening July 17; spend night at discount hotel to get a good nights rest
Drive to Kenai, leisurely sightseeing, and arrive before bedtime.
Orientation on Thursday July 19
Outreach event FRI/SAT/SUN July 20-22
Sightseeing FULL DAY Monday July 23
Depart Kenai by 10 am on Tuesday to head back to Anchorage July 24
Depart Anchorage airport, evening Tues July 24

Participant Information, Recommendations, Requirements:
Participant Age: Jr. High, Sr. High, College, Adult, and Seniors
Eligible to Go: Groups [max size 20], Married Couples, and Families
Education / Experience: All workers will be certified in food handling, since one of our projects includes hosting a free hotdog stand at the beach. Get certified ($10 fee online) http://alaska.state.gegov.com/foodworker/
Languages: English
Other: Be sure to make your airfare arrangements in concert with our trip itinerary. If you arrive days early/leave late, we may not be able to accommodate your group for the additional days. You may have to rent a vehicle/hotel, and this can be very expensive!
