Midwest Church Plant

Full Description:
This mission trip will be working with a small church plant effort in Enid, Oklahoma. The pastor is a former mission team participant himself and he and his family have been laboring for almost a year in Enid and the church is beginning to become recognized in the community. The mission team will be helping with summer outreach efforts like a Vacation Bible school and some door-to-door literature distribution. This is a great trip for those who demonstrate initiative and eagerness to meet people and stir up conversations that would lead back to Christ and inviting people to worship. The team will also get a chance to help with the kids programs at a summer family conference held in beautiful Marion, Indiana at the end of their trip.

Location Information:
Country(s): United States
Region(s): Northern America

Dates:
Start date: Approx: Jul or Aug 2012
Length: 3 weeks to 4 weeks

Demographics of People Being Ministered To:
Who: children, families, single mothers
People Group(s):
Religion/Beliefs: Most people in this area have perhaps general knowledge but few have much depth of knowledge. As America's Christian foundation has been eroding, this has led to mission teams not being able to make assumptions about the level of understanding possessed by the person on the street, but instead it has impressed upon our teams the need to start from the beginning and convey to people the whole counsel of God from His word, the Bible.

Training and Debriefing:
Pre-field Training: Yes
Post-field Debrief: Yes
Comments: Prior to your departure, the team members will study the biblical foundation of missions and seek to better understand how we ensure that Christ remains the focus of all our efforts. The team will also receive training onsite from the pastor to better equip them for reaching that particular community with the gospel. Following the trip the team will be required to write a short report (3-5 pages) on what God taught them through the mission effort and it is the aim of this report to help lay the foundation for their follow up presentations at their local churches to hopefully spur others on to serving Christ through short-term mission efforts.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church
and/or Long-term Goals:
This mission trip really is an opportunity for participants to see how God has been equipping them under the preaching and teaching ministries they have grown up under all these years. This is an opportunity to aid Christ Church by helping to see new churches established and to help a church planter and his family with the many duties that can so easily overwhelm a small church.

Finances:
Funds needed: Total : $900 - $1,500 (US)
Included in Cost: Lodging and Meals
Other: These funds will help to cover the cost of sending out fundraising letters, the conference in the Colorado mountains and will help with outreach materials. Each participant will be responsible for getting themselves to Enid (they can fly into Oklahoma City and transportation will be provided to the host church).

Participant Information, Recommendations, Requirements:
Participant Age: Sr. High, College, Adult, and Seniors
Eligible to Go: Individuals, Groups [max size 8], Married Couples, and Families
Education / Experience: All participants must have a Servant's heart and be willing to labor tirelessly for Christ and for His glory.
Languages: English, and if you happen to know Spanish, that may open up some new ministry opportunities.

Application Information:
How to apply: The application process includes completing an application, submitting three references (Pastor, Academic, and Friend) as well as a personal evaluation and a team member contract. Once these have been received, the application is reviewed and the applicant is then informed of their status with the team. Following acceptance to the mission team, the team member will begin the pre-trip training and fundraising for their trip.

Other Information:
It can't be emphasized enough that RP Missions seeks to respond to needs expressed by the host congregations, so we go as Servants to Christ's Church and must labor on behalf of the local congregation. If you have such a desire to be of use to Christ, this is a great trip for you to consider!
