Summer Internship for College Students

Full Description:
Who Summer Intern Missionaries Are and What They Do: They are leaders who want to serve God in a summer missions ministry experience. They must have been out of high school for one year, received Christ as Savior and preferably have had ministry leadership experience. In rare cases we allow someone younger. They help our resident missionaries by meeting the varied staffing responsibilities during our free church summer camps for orphans with mission teams partnering with Genesis. Interns will be working with and being accountable to full-time missionaries. They should also be prepared to lead devotions and drive mission vehicles. A minimum of 3 weeks is accepted up to the full 11 week summer schedule.
Also please note, this is a leadership position and as such is very different from previous trips you may have taken with us.
Join Genesis Diez, A.C. (Genesis) on staff as we invite the children (niños) of orphanages and/or indigenous migrant families to participate in week-long church camps. The niños, ages 4 through 14, participate in enriching educational activities alongside visiting groups (amigos) from the United States and Canada. Many of the niños lack one-on-one attention. Genesis recognizes the importance of giving the niños time and pouring unconditional love into them. The Amigo-Niño program, pairs the niños up with an amigo, allowing the individuals to develop a relationship as they participate in arts and crafts, sports, hikes, going to the beach and many other activities. It is a life changing program for both. At camp, there are a variety of activities to build positive self esteem, leadership skills and Christian spiritual growth. The niños are also given the opportunity to understand and appreciate the beauty of God’s world and learn how to care for the environment, plants, and animals He created. Please join our seasonal staff and help us facilitate these life changing experiences!

Finances:
Funds needed: *see notes below or inquire for details
Other: Matters of Financial Importance: As Genesis Diez is not denominationally related, nor funded through any endowments, all missionaries and the mission itself are supported solely through the gifts of individuals and churches. The Summer Intern will function as a missionary in this regard. He or she should have a support team to whom he or she is accountable for the service performed.
* There is a $25 application fee due at the time the Summer Internship application is submitted.
* All Summer Interns must raise a minimum of $900. which does not include your transportation costs to San Diego. The maximum amount raised is based off $600 per week served. Example: 11 weeks served x $600 = $6,600. maximum. All money raised beyond the transportation & weekly served maximum of $600 per week will be retained by Genesis in our ministry. $380 goes to Genesis for minimizing the subsidized mission expenses and the remainder goes in the Summer Intern's Genesis personal account. Although more can be in the account, the account must maintain a minimum $500 for the summer. This is for emergency, medical and/or transportation needs. Money left in this account at the end of the summer is returned to the Summer Intern by September 10, 2012, as a taxable honorarium.
* Normal summer personal expenses average $200. The intern makes a expense request for a specific amount, not to exceed $200, upon arriving and will receive no later than two weeks after the request. Please have a small amount of cash for your personal use during the first two weeks of your internship in U.S. $20.00 bills or less. Most Mexico stores will cash U.S. dollars in smaller bills.
* Summer Interns also must raise or are personally responsible for their transportation expenses to San Diego. This varies depending upon from where one is traveling. Count on $600 and you most likely will be covered.
