Full Description:
The Greenock New Charge Development is located near Glasgow, Scotland. It is a former ship-building area, facing economic decline and hardships. Greenock is a mixed congregation of older families and younger teenagers and single parents. The church has a strong focus on developing and building relationships. The Alongsider will work as part of the children and youth team. There are exciting opportunities to help this team expand their outreach and evangelism, as well as the need to help strengthen discipleship within the congregation.
This opportunity requires a minimum commitment of one year.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Works within the church’s structure, values and pattern of ministry geared to a low-income neighborhood.
•Works in a coordinated way with the Parish Minister and Commission pastor, as part of the Children and Youth team.
•Work within and help develop church and community partnerships.
•Participate and help to develop Sunday club for children
•Share in and help to develop work with primary school children (age 5-11) as well as with youth (12+) in the parish.
•Share in and help develop other children and youth initiatives which may evolve
•Participates in general life and witness of the church.
•Takes responsibility for his/her spiritual development by participating in and praying for the life of the church.
