Full Description:
One of the keys to breaking the cycle of poverty is by providing education to the children. Yet in rural areas of Belize many children cannot afford to attend school. In Armenia Village, for example, only a few people have an education beyond elementary school and many cannot read or write English even though Belize is an English-speaking country. By volunteering to help construct or repair a classroom, provide a workshop (such as computers, music, art, or sports), or by working along side a local teacher, you can join us in bringing the hope of Christ, and the hope of education to children living in poverty.
Teams stay at Jaguar Creek, a beautifully constructed, solar-powered mission and conference center located in a 700 acre rain forest preserve. It is a perfect place to reflect on God’s creative wonder and to seek spiritual restoration. Jaguar Creek can accommodate teams from 5 to 50, and service opportunities are no more than 10 to 15 minutes away.
If you can recruit at least three friends we can arrange for a short term mission at almost any time of the year.
Help us bring hope through faith and learning to the children of Armenia Village, St. Margaret’s Village, or another area where the needs are great. Work alongside Belizean men, women and children who are striving to break out of the cycle of poverty.

Relation of Opportunity to National Church and/or Long-term Goals: |
|
PathLight looks for opportunities where we are invited to work. We believe that the local people know better than we do what is needed and how we can best serve them. Our desire is to build lasting relationships between the “servants” and those being served, so that, over time, transformation of both parties can occur. Our long term goal is to ensure that every child in Belize who has the desire and aptitude, will be have the opportunity not only for an academic education, but for spiritual learning as well.

Worldwide, over 120 million children do not receive a primary education. And a child that grows up without an education has fewer choices and little hope for escaping the cycle of poverty that may have been passed down for several generations. But knowledge is powerful. With a strong education that same child can not only help herself, but also her family and community. And when education is combined with a knowledge of Jesus Christ, the effect is miraculous. Our projects are designed to bring hope through faith and learning.
