Full Description:
We have been invited to Metlakatla, the only Indian Reserve in AK, to work with the Tsimshian nation, and we are officially inviting you to join us! Pastor John, and several of the other local pastors, has asked us to lead a sports/leadership camp to reach out to the youth on the island. We are using a Christian program called Upward Basketball as a model to meet the needs of the community. In addition to basketball skills and tournament play we teach sportsmanship, Christian leadership, community service and outreach as part of the camp for grades 3 – 12. One of the unique benefits of this camp is that it has served to unite the churches of differing denominations on the Annette Island as one.
