Full Description:
CHILDREN AND YOUTH WORK IN BRAZIL
Ministry Possibilities include:
- Bible Clubs, with children in poor and slum areas, that include singing, story time with videos or other lessons, play time, crafts and a snack or meal.
- Helping students with their basic English homework is another way to minister to these children or
- Organizing a children's choir teaching music.
- In-line hockey is offered to young boys and teens, in the community, with a weekly Bible study and mini camps held at our own rural location with fishing, boating, horse back riding, soccer, ping pong, etc.
- The computer ministry is vital as we prepare books, tracts and children's materials in the print shop.
Men & women with a living testimony are welcome but because of passed experience we'd prefer that those coming for a longer period of time be at least in their 20's. Most of the work is in the areas of the Boy's Home in Contagem, Minas Gerais, just outside of the capital city of Belo Horizonte, which is situated between Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, about 500 km from the coast. Willing hands and servant hearts to help in any of the works are appreciated. Most stay at the Boy's Home or ministry close by, with missionaries who work in the Home, print shop and with children or with a missionary who commutes.
Visas are for 3 months and usually can be renewed for an additional 3 months. January and February are school holiday time here with less going on in the boy's Home.
Both individual and teams are welcome. We've had church teams with up to 9 people as well as teen-age high school teams. Some sightseeing was included. We have activities for a family who wants to do ministry together.
Brazilian Portuguese is spoken here but it is not necessary to speak it as it an easy language to pick up.
