Full Description:
Join Genesis Diez, A.C. (Genesis) as we build a Dream Center & Orphanage. It will provide a permanent structure to house our disabled children, office & our year round programs:
"Puerta Hermosa" - will be a permanent home for our disabled ninos.
"Amigo / Nino Program"- is a church mission trip / camp experience.
"Into School Program"- helping the indigenous poor into school.
"Food and Prayer Program"- Food distribution helping the poor indigenous families.
"Field Trips"- visiting museums/cultural centers, theatre, tourist attractions, hiking or an afternoon in a park.
"Story Time"- uses Bible stories /Christian books to enforce a specific value (honesty, friendship, respect) strengthened with Bible verses, and allows the niños to discover individual strengths.
"Big Events"- Genesis hosts several one-day Big Events for the niños of the Orphanages in Baja North, and from the migrant communities.
"Community Outreach"- Genesis helps schools, rehabilitation centers, churches, and shelters with a variety of donations (school supplies, food and clothing).
"Distribution of Donations"- Genesis distributes these donations based on the known needs of orphanages, the migrant community and local schools.
"Consultations, Medical & Administrative Support"- We consult about different government policies and registrations. Assistance is also given to help niños obtain the necessary legal documents and passports to receive medical care in the United States.
"Medical / Dental Teams" - helping the orphans, migrant community & disabled.

Who: Orphans, indigenous migrant children, disabled
People Group(s): Indigenous people from Southern Mexico, including many of Mayan decent
Religion/Beliefs: Orphans are being raised in Christian orphanages and attending church. Most indigenous migrants believe in some form of Catholicism and/or a mixture of ancient native religions and mysticisms

Pre-field Training: Yes
Post-field Debrief: No
Comments: We offer Pre-field training by offering initiatives for the group leader to facilitate. These initiatives are designed to build community, sharpen perception of noticing peoples needs, raise awareness of the situations of the orphans and indigenous, stress giving and selflessness, and better understand non-verbal language skills.

We send a 17 page trip manual that contains: Rancho Genesis - Site Information, Group Conduct, Question and Answers, Financial Information, Sample daily itinerary, Documents for entry into Mexico, Leaders Check off list, Participant Packing List, Travel in Baja, and Required Forms.

When we meet you in San Diego we have a Pre-trip Briefing along with questions & answers prior to departing to Rancho Genesis.

Upon arrival we have an orientation and you will receive some English / Spanish phrases to help with the language barrier :-)

Relation of Opportunity to National Church
and/or Long-term Goals:
To be ambassadors of Christ's unconditional love to the poor and forgotten children of Mexico. This Dream Center will anchor the care for our disabled orphanage and all other programs that Genesis Diez A. C. provides year round.

Other: We will pick you up at the San Diego airport and transport you to and from our location in Mexico.
Missionaries will need to raise personal support.
Meals are included only during group activity times.

Participant Information, Recommendations, Requirements:
Participant Age: Adult and Seniors
Eligible to Go: Individuals, Married Couples, and Families
Education / Experience: Basic construction know how a must :-) Come with a heart to serve and to touch lives.
Languages: Basic Spanish is a plus, but by no means required.
Other: On June 1, 2009 all U.S. and Canadian citizens who are 16 and older traveling between the U.S. and Mexico by land will be required to present a valid passport or other alternative documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security. U.S. and Canadian citizens who are 15 years old or younger will still be allowed to travel with just a copy of their birth certificate, as will teens between the ages of 16-18 if they are part of an adult supervised school, religious, cultural or athletic group.
