Full Description:
Inside the southwest corner of South Dakota near the Nebraska border, sits a beautiful stretch of rolling hills and endless skies that is home to a group of people full of compassion and courage. This stretch of land, a part of one of the largest reservations in the country, marks the place of many a tragic tale in America’s history. As a result, the people of the Sioux tribe continue to struggle with issues such as extreme poverty, unemployment and drug and alcohol abuse.
The living conditions are dismal, but there is great hope. While in South Dakota, you will be working to rebuild the Sioux Reservation. Many of the work projects include new home builds and moderate to heavy repair projects such as flooring, siding and wheel chair ramps. You can also expect to fall in love with the families and children who are the true pulse of the reservation.
On Friday, you will have the opportunity to experience the beautiful terrain by spending the day at Angostura State Reservoir.
Get ready for an exciting week of cultural immersion, great fellowship and challenging work.
