What the Mission Trip Will Be Like
What are you doing for Spring Break? Join us here in Alaska to get closer to God, meet new friends, serve God by serving others, and have a great time!
Why Alaska? The Pew Research Center just released a study that found Alaska to be the LEAST religious state in the United States. http://pewresearch.org/databank/dailynumber/?NumberID=925
You are going to hit the ground running when you get here. Saturday, we'll watch the start of the Iditarod Sled Dog Race here in Anchorage. That afternoon we'll drive to Willow, Alaska, site of the Iditarod re-start on Sunday. On Sunday, we'll be helping put the race on -- setting every thing up, overseeing parking 1300 cars, working race security, serving as dog handlers, and tearing down and cleaning up after the race. As you rub shoulders with race volunteers, mushers, and musher friends/familes, it is a great time to share your faith. www.iditarod.com
Afterwards, we'll return to Anchorage and begin to go to work doing other things such as volunteering at Anchorage Food Bank for the Hungry, working with kids at the local Boys and Girls Clubs, working with orphan boys, shoveling snow for the elderly, and working with children/youth in local parks after school.
We are going to work hard, but we will also have time to play. For fun, there will be opportunities for snowhiking in the forest, moose-viewing, awesome sledding, shopping, and checking out the Northern Lights. You might even get a chance to mush (drive) a dog team!
Also, if these dates don't work for you, we have another project the following week.

Airfare to Anchorage is very affordable at this time of year. It can be under $600 from many places.

Mission Trip Offered By GraceWorks/ Global Partnership Ministries
Global Partnership Ministries started 24 years ago to help respond to the newly opening doors in Eastern Europe. Over that time, we have taken almost 3,000 people overseas on mission for Christ. Nine years ago we moved to Alaska. Since then, we have hosted several thousand volunteer missionaries here in Alaska. In Alaska, we are known as "GRACEWORKS" We believe that the Bible is God's Word; that people are lost without Christ; and that it is our responsibility to get the Message to people. The Great Commission is not just that people ought to go to church. It is for the Church to go to people! We have also found that we usually have to serve people and demonstrate love before they are ready to listen to what we have to say. They don't care what we know until they know that we care. Our primary fields of focus are Alaska and Romania. Each year we help facilitate hundreds of volunteers serving all over Alaska — which is almost three times the size of Texas! Our strategy is to use volunteer teams to help reach people and start small groups to disciple those we reach. We are especially pleased that 16 small groups involving 60 people started as a result of our "GraceWorks" ministry volunteers this past summer. Most of these groups are continuing — led by local church leaders, our staff and local missionaries! Why Alaska? Most people think of Alaska only as a tourist destination. God certainly worked overtime making it one of the most spectacularly beautiful places on the earth. However, it is also spiritually dark. The Pew Research Center recently released a study that found Alaska to have the lowest church attendance in the United States. WE NEED HELP!

- Dear Scott — I just wanted to thank you again for providing such a wonderful experience for the FBBA group! Our kids truly did not want to leave, and many of them want to return to Alaska next year. I wanted to thank you and your staff for everything — it was so well-organized and taken care of. Your leadership was wonderful, Tracy was a great help, and as always, Jerry and Melissa were amazing. The students stayed busy, learned a lot of new things, and they so enjoyed their time. The parents haven't stopped raving about all of their students' stories
Well, I wanted to tell you that impact from the trip has been great here among our students — we have had at least 4 of our students share at different times in chapel about the things God has been teaching them, of which Alaska has been a huge part. Today, Eric and Megan (2 of the students who came) pretty much led the entire chapel service, and it was awesome. I just wanted to thank you again so much for all of your hard work as a missionary there, and for all of your help in making our trip happen. It was truly a joy and a huge learning experience for me (as well as for the other chaperones and the students, most definitely), and just a joy to work with everyone there! Michelle
