![]() Potter´s House AssociationFounded 1986
In the heart of Guatemala City is the largest dump in Latin America. More than 11,000 people live and work in and near the dump, and nearly 6,500 of them are children.
Even by other Guatemalans, they are treated as little better than the garbage that shapes their existence, which in turn leads them to believe that they are the refuse of the world.
Potter's House Association is a Christian non-profit organization that exists to change the living situation for these thousands, because they are human beings, beloved children of the one true God, worthy of respect and dignity. They are Treasures of immeasurable worth, both to our Lord Jesus Christ and to us.
We have a rich history of turning things around for these Treasures—25 years of service to some of the most beautiful and hard-working people in Central America. We share with them the love of God and empower them to turn their lives around—both for themselves and their children. We help them dream of a better life, then equip them to make those dreams reality. With the help of our partners around the world, we are changing the lives of thousands of these Treasures.

Potter's House Association adheres to the statement of faith established by the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE):1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. 2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. 3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His Virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. 4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. 5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. 6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. 7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. **Compatibility Criteria 1. The Church, leader and volunteers that form the team share the Potters’ House philosophy and doctrinal statements. (listed above). 2. The volunteers’ team and Potters’ House wish to serve in a way that glorifies God’s name, testifying and letting the Holy Spirit impact the lives of the Treasures and as well as our own lives. 3. The short term mission trip obeys God’s command to His church to extend the Kingdom’s values in this world. 4. The senders, goers and receivers all participate in the task to execute the Great Commission, and all work to realize that the Great Commission is not fulfilled by a one-time event, but rather is a process. 5. Based on the previous statement, it is expected that as time goes on friendship bounds will strengthen and a partnership between Potter’s House and the visiting group will develop and grow to have a long-term impact on the Treasures and the communities surrounding the garbage dumb. 6. The volunteer team and its Leadership agree to follow the guidelines established by Potter’s House, keeping in mind that it will to the benefit of both parties. 7.
