With little or no resources cambered with conflicts, crisis after another, femine and political uncertainty, the youths in Africa and specifically in Kenya where I have done short term missions are left unattended to and ignored making them hopeless and bored. Involved in slum tournament in Kibera one of the largest slums in the world, I saw sports bring hope, build cohesion and promote self worth as the youths engaged themselves in sports activities. With sport gear balls and baseball bats from TWAM UK we introduced western sports activities like baseball and the youths enjoyed it immensely. I started with a lot of skeptism since everyone is possessed with soccer but the interest to learn and play non African sport activities was very inspiring. I wish more groups would take up this opportunity and exploit the potency of sports outreach in Africa. I went to the villages where I was involved in environmental awareness a d HIV/ AIDS advocacy through sports planting thousands of seedlings that were given freely environmental groups and had an open sports day where people voluntarily tested their HIV status crowning the whole thing with a trophy. It was awesome I never noticed the length of days as they went so fast each day filled with a fun activity that carried with it a life transforming experience. At night we projected movies then had friends from Netherlands teach the village youths some contemporary dances, did a choreography and performed in an open day. The smile and pride in their parents faces told it all. Think beyond the normal, outside the box, there is room for every idea. Make yourself, your hobby and interest a tool for outreach for God is asking " what do you have in your hand"
